Terms of Service

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service and Regulations for the Provision of Electronic Services (the "Terms" or "Regulations") govern access to and use of the IP Lens website, lookup pages, documentation, and public IP address intelligence features (together, the "Service") provided by IP Lens ("IP Lens", "we", "us"). By accessing the Service, you accept these Terms. These Terms constitute regulations for the provision of electronic services within the meaning of Article 8 of the Polish Act on Providing Services by Electronic Means. Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data; it is a transparency notice and does not independently change these contractual Terms.

1.1 Access, acquisition, and recording

These Regulations are available free of charge, without an account, before contract formation at /terms-of-service. You may acquire, reproduce, and retain the same rendered version as an HTML file through the download endpoint using your browser or another compatible information system. If you do not accept the Regulations, do not request or continue using an electronic service.

3. Definitions

"Public IP Data": IP addresses, IP prefixes, Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs), network names, registry records, approximate geolocation, reverse DNS hostnames, routing signals, special-purpose address metadata, and related facts that IP Lens obtains from public or publicly available sources.
"Query Data": The search queries that you submit, together with basic request metadata needed to return the page, secure the Service, and operate logs.
"Service Output": Results, pages, tables, documentation, labels, and other material shown by IP Lens in response to a lookup or browse request.

4. Electronic services and scope

The Provider supplies the following electronic services free of charge and without an account:

public informational, legal, documentation, and help pages;
lookups for IP addresses, IP prefixes, and ASNs, and searches for network organizations, legal names, ASN handles, and provider names; IP-address results may include stored reverse-DNS hostnames;
result pages presenting public registry, routing, ownership, geolocation, reverse DNS, tagging, and other network-intelligence context;
a client-IP display that shows the public source address observed for the request;
a browser-information page that displays browser, operating-system, device, rendering, storage-capability, locale, screen, and page-performance information;
browser-based networking tools, including lookup helpers and an IP subnet calculator; and
security, abuse-prevention, correction, and support communications related to those services.

IP Lens does not currently provide accounts, subscriptions, private workspaces, private uploads, saved searches, or a paid service-level commitment. The detailed permitted scope and restrictions for Service Output are set out below.

5. Technical requirements and device functions

To use the Service, you need a device with an internet connection, working DNS and HTTPS/TLS connectivity, and a current web browser. IP Lens supports the latest two major versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari on desktop; Safari on the latest two major iOS and iPadOS versions; and the latest two major Chrome versions on Android, iOS, and iPadOS.

Pages use HTML and CSS. JavaScript is required for interactive features and may also be required to complete a security challenge on any page when needed to prevent abuse or protect Service availability.

Page scripts and client-IP requests: First-party page scripts render interactive features and may request the client-IP endpoint to show the public source IP address and related network context observed by IP Lens.
Browser-information page: When you request that page, its script reads available browser and device interfaces, including browser and platform details, client hints, locale and time settings, screen and input characteristics, storage availability and quota, rendering capabilities, and page-performance information. These details are evaluated and displayed locally in the page; ordinary request metadata and the public source IP address are separately received by the server.
Theme cookie: Selecting Light or Dark stores the first-party lens_theme cookie for up to one year to remember that requested display preference. Selecting System removes it.
Clipboard and local tools: A copy control writes only the displayed value you selected to the clipboard after your explicit action. Networking calculators process entered values in the browser to produce the requested result.
Browser cache: The browser may cache public HTML, CSS, JavaScript, fonts, and images to render and repeat delivery efficiently, according to response headers and browser settings.
Cookie-free first-party analytics: Where enabled, the company-controlled analytics script records minimized pageview and device-category information to understand use and improve the Service. It sets no analytics cookie or browser-storage identifier, honors Do Not Track, excludes query strings and fragments, and does not follow users across third-party websites. Further details are in the Privacy Policy.
Consent-based Google Ads conversion measurement: When an auto-tagged Google Ads visitor selects Allow conversion measurement, IP Lens may load the Google tag and use advertising cookies to report one conversion if that visitor searches or opens an IP result within 48 hours. The tag remains blocked before consent, declining does not limit the Service, and the visitor can withdraw through Ad conversion settings in the page footer. Further details are in the Privacy Policy.

6. Special risks of electronic use

Internet and electronic services involve risks even when reasonable safeguards are used. In particular:

malware, phishing, malicious browser extensions, a compromised device, or a hostile network may intercept, alter, or misuse requests and displayed information;
submitted selectors, source IP addresses, browser metadata, and viewed pages may reveal security investigations, interests, network configuration, or approximate location;
public registry, routing, reverse DNS, geolocation, and third-party data may be stale, incomplete, conflicting, incorrectly attributed, or unavailable;
rate limits, maintenance, attacks, routing failures, upstream failures, or software errors may delay or prevent access;
copying, sharing, or relying on Service Output may expose data or lead to an incorrect security, legal, compliance, or access-control decision; and
unsupported or outdated software may render content incorrectly or lack current security fixes.

Keep your device and browser updated, use trusted networks and software, verify important outputs independently, and do not submit passwords, secrets, or unnecessary personal data.

7. Contract formation and termination

A contract for an individual, no-account electronic service is formed when your request for a page, lookup, search, client-IP display, browser-information page, or tool reaches IP Lens after the Regulations have been made available to you.

IP Lens may restrict, suspend, or terminate access on the grounds and terms stated in section 12. Termination does not affect provisions that by their nature survive, accrued rights, or lawful retention described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Public data and informational use

IP Lens is an informational lookup service. It helps users understand public network context around an IP address, such as which network announces it, what organization is listed in public registration data, and what approximate location or reverse DNS signals are available.

Public IP Data changes over time and may be incomplete, delayed, stale, inconsistent, or wrong. The nature and limitations of IP data are described in section 14. You are responsible for verifying Service Output before relying on it for security, operational, legal, compliance, or access-control decisions.

9. Permitted use

You may use the Service for lawful network administration, security investigation, abuse triage, research, education, troubleshooting, and similar purposes. You may link to IP Lens result pages and may include short excerpts of Service Output in reports, tickets, alerts, or case notes when the excerpt is not a substitute for using IP Lens directly.

10. Prohibited use

You must not:

use the Service for unlawful, harmful, privacy-invasive, harassing, or discriminatory activity;
use Service Output as the only basis for a decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects for a person;
scrape, mirror, bulk-download, or systematically copy the Service;
resell, repackage, or redistribute Service Output as a standalone IP intelligence feed;
misrepresent IP Lens data as your own original measurement or as a guarantee of location, ownership, routing, or reputation;
access or use the Service if doing so is prohibited by sanctions, embargoes, export controls, or other trade restrictions that bind you or IP Lens, including directly applicable European Union measures, Polish national measures, and United Nations measures implemented through European Union or Polish law;
export, re-export, transfer, disclose, or otherwise make the Service, Service Output, software, technical information, or related materials available in violation of applicable sanctions, export-control, or trade-compliance law;
attempt to bypass rate limits, security controls, robots rules, access restrictions, or technical limits; or
interfere with, overload, probe, exploit, or reverse engineer the Service.

10.1 Unlawful content

You must not provide, submit, transmit, or attempt to introduce through searches, selectors, URLs, messages, reports, or any other Service input content that is unlawful; infringes intellectual-property, privacy, confidentiality, personality, or other rights; contains malware, executable attacks, credentials, or unlawfully obtained data; facilitates harassment, discrimination, threats, fraud, or unauthorized access; or is otherwise prohibited by applicable law. This prohibition applies even where a technical input field can represent a domain name, hostname, organization name, or other text.

IP Lens may reject an input, block access, preserve relevant evidence, or notify an appropriate authority where reasonably necessary and lawful. This subsection does not limit the good-faith security research protection in section 10.2.

10.2 Good-faith security research

IP Lens welcomes good-faith security research performed solely to test, investigate, or help correct a security flaw or vulnerability. Good-faith research is designed to avoid harm to people, data, and systems, and uses the information obtained primarily to improve the security or safety of the Service or its users.

In scope: https://iplens.io, including the paths and first-party website and API endpoints served directly at that origin. No wildcard or implied scope applies.

Out of scope: every other host and system, including other Provider or IP Lens subdomains, customer assets, linked or embedded sites, and content delivery, analytics, email, payment, Domain Name System (DNS), hosting, or other supplier systems. This clause does not authorize testing any third-party system, even when IP Lens links to, embeds, depends on, or uses that system.

To remain within this protection, a researcher must act lawfully and:

use only the access and amount of testing reasonably needed to confirm and report the vulnerability, while minimizing requests and data collection;
avoid privacy violations, service degradation, disruption, and harm to IP Lens, its users, or any third party;
not access another person's non-public data; if personal, confidential, or other non-public data is encountered, stop testing immediately, do not retain, use, or disclose the data, and notify IP Lens;
promptly and confidentially report the vulnerability to security@iplens.io with enough technical detail to reproduce and assess it; and
stop or adjust testing if IP Lens reasonably asks this to prevent harm while the report is assessed.

This clause does not authorize social engineering, physical intrusion, denial-of-service or load testing, persistence, pivoting to another system, exfiltration, modification or destruction of data, testing another customer, or accessing another person's account or non-public data.

This commitment does not prevent IP Lens from complying with mandatory law or taking necessary and proportionate action to prevent or address actual harm, or a concrete risk of harm, to a third party. IP Lens cannot bind third parties or public authorities.

IP Lens aims to acknowledge receipt of a report within three business days, meaning Monday through Friday excluding public holidays in Poland. An acknowledgment confirms receipt only; it is not a promise that IP Lens will validate or remediate the issue within that period. This safe harbor does not create a bug bounty, payment right, public-credit program, fixed remediation deadline, or mandatory disclosure embargo.

11. Data rights and attribution

As between you and IP Lens, IP Lens and its licensors retain all rights in the Service, the selection and arrangement of Public IP Data, Service Output, software, page design, documentation, trademarks, and database structure.

When you share excerpts that materially rely on IP Lens, attribute them to "IP Lens" and, where practical, include a link to the relevant IP Lens page. Attribution does not grant permission to bulk redistribute or operate a competing copy of the Service.

12. Rate limits, suspension, and availability

IP Lens applies rate limits to searches and result-page requests to protect the Service and other users. Limits may use a request's source IP address and other security or request signals. When a limit is exceeded, IP Lens may temporarily block affected requests and return an HTTP 429 response with a period after which the requester may try again. You must not evade a limit by changing addresses, request signals, clients, or access methods.

IP Lens may restrict, rate-limit, suspend, or block access, in whole or in part and without prior notice, where IP Lens reasonably believes access breaches these Terms; threatens the security, integrity, availability, or lawful operation of the Service; harms IP Lens, other users, or third parties; or creates sanctions, export-control, or other legal or regulatory risk.

The Service is provided free of charge and without a service-level commitment. We may add, remove, change, suspend, or discontinue features, pages, data sources, or access methods.

13. Privacy

IP addresses, hostnames, and request metadata can be personal data in some contexts. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we process it, how long we keep it, and how to contact us about privacy or correction requests.

14. Service information and limitations

14.1 Nature and limitations of IP data

IP Lens provides public network and infrastructure observations for informational, research, troubleshooting, and security purposes. IP intelligence describes network infrastructure and apparent network endpoints; it is not a verified identification of a particular person or household. IP addresses may be shared, reassigned, translated, or routed through proxies, VPNs, mobile networks, or carrier-grade network address translation. Results are approximate and must not be used as the sole basis for identifying a person or determining their precise location.

Service Output may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or inaccurate because networks, registrations, routing, and third-party sources change. IP Lens does not promise uninterrupted availability or that Service Output proves ownership, intent, or wrongdoing. You must independently verify information before relying on it for a material decision.

15. Responsibility

IP Lens is responsible for failure to perform or improper performance of the Service according to applicable law. IP Lens is not responsible to the extent that damage results from using Service Output contrary to these Terms, treating it as conclusive without the independent verification required by section 14, or from an event outside IP Lens's reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for intentional harm, death or bodily injury, or any responsibility or statutory right that applicable law does not permit IP Lens to restrict.

16. Feedback

If you send IP Lens feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, IP Lens may use them for any purpose without restriction, charge, or obligation, and you grant IP Lens a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them and incorporate them into the Service. IP Lens will not publicly identify you as the source without your consent.

17. General terms

Force majeure. IP Lens is not liable for any delay or failure to provide the Service caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including internet, transit, or upstream provider failures, denial-of-service attacks, routing incidents, power or utility failures, natural events, epidemics or pandemics, war, terrorism, or government action.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. IP Lens may assign them in connection with a merger, reorganization, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets.

Entire agreement and survival. These Terms are the entire agreement about your use of the Service. The Privacy Policy describes processing facts and rights but is not incorporated as a contractual term. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Sections that by their nature should survive, including Definitions, Data rights and attribution, Service information and limitations, Responsibility, and Feedback, survive any end of your access to the Service.

18. Complaint procedure

A complaint about an electronic service may be sent by email to legal@iplens.io or by post. Using the subject “IP Lens complaint” will help route it.

The complaint should include:

your name or organization name and an email address for the response;
the affected service, IP Lens URL, lookup selector, or other identifier;
the date and time of the event, including timezone where relevant;
a concise description of the issue and available evidence; and
the outcome or remedy requested.

Do not include passwords, secrets, or unnecessary personal data. Missing information does not automatically invalidate a complaint. IP Lens may ask for information reasonably needed to identify and investigate the matter.

IP Lens will review and respond within fourteen (14) calendar days after receiving the complaint. The response will be sent to the email address used to submit the complaint or another response address identified in it, unless a mandatory rule or an expressly requested and available postal response requires another channel. The response will state the outcome, give reasons for any rejection, and describe any accepted remedy and its expected timing. This procedure does not limit statutory rights or access to courts, regulators, or other competent authorities.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland, subject to applicable conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard by the courts competent under applicable Polish and European Union procedural rules. This choice does not deprive a consumer of mandatory protections or access to a competent court that cannot be changed by contract.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms because of a change in applicable law or a binding authority decision; a change needed to protect security, integrity, or lawful operation; or a material change to the Service or its technical requirements. Clarifications and corrections that do not reduce user rights may also be made.

Material changes to Terms of Service or Privacy Policy take effect after thirty (30) days after publication. A shorter period may be used only where binding law or an active security threat requires it, in which case notice will be published as soon as practical. An update does not change the terms governing a request already performed. Updated Terms apply only to requests made on or after their effective date. If you do not accept an update, stop using the Service before that date.
